[ It was surprising sometimes, the number of parties people seemed to throw at this bar. Not that he was complaining, of course, the more people there were the more business there was, and if business was doing well that did tend to work in favor of the barkeeper.

Besides for all the mess he knew he was going to have on his hands when Alfie got well and truly drunk by the end of the night, it was hard not to watch the other guy's antics without being at least a little amused.

Billy leans across the bar, scanning the crowd, trying to keep alert and vigilant in case his duties as a barkeep required him to dive out into the masses and pour out a cold one, or you know, more realistically if someone came up and asked for another drink.

The problem is, while he's trying his hardest to keep his eyes on things, his gave keeps flickering back to a certain lady who's seemed to be keeping herself nice and busy tonight, despite Billy's best attempts to psychically will her over to the bar. He's starting to doubt his powers! You know, the ones he's well aware he doesn't actually have.

[Hogsmeade is something she usually finds herself looking forward to. Something she links arms with her friends with and spends long hours dragging each other across shops, taking long drinks of butterbeer and talking about classes and other classmates, about purchases. It's a tradition she's had ever since third year with them.

And yet...This one particular occasion is a little different. After half an hour, she's waved them off. She couldn't focus on the conversation, and while this wasn't entirely unsual, it had nothing to do with her school work or her Head Girl duties. Which generally was. She'd been so...Put out ever since she'd discovered James Potter had been Head Boy with her, and she'd have to work with him for the entire school year.

He was as insufferable as he'd always been, arrogance oozing from his every pore and incapable of taking anything she said seriously without adding some sort of come on to it. Except...For one very noticeable difference. But one she couldn't quite put her finger on. Inexplicably he seemed less like the boy she'd known, and more...Well, he'd seemed a little older.

So consumed is she with pondering this out, that she doesn't even really realize she's bumped chest first into the arm of the boy in question. She backs up a step, embarressed and ready to apologize, until his identity registers. Then her eyebrows furrow slightly in irritation
]

Sorry, Potter.

[ It had been a few days since they'd come back to the water tribe, and Korra's bending remained unrestored. She wasn't as angry as she had been the first day, and it was clear something had happened. Katara had informed the rest of them, her link to the elements had been restored.

However, the bending wasn't just coming to her the way it used to. She was struggling with the elements she had long since mastered, and something like that couldn't be easy for her. For a girl that could effortlessly switch from shoving aside a bolder, to snapping a whip of water and finishing with a blaze of fire it had to be frustrating that now she was struggling to do more than push and pull water in the first place.

Mako is sitting a ways back, watching her try to relearn the very basics, a small frown on his face.

[It's strange in a way, being back after what feels like so long. The restlessness that he'd been feeling for months, and that no amount of killing dangerous fauna could sate, has finally left. But it had been replaced with a quiet ache, that's finally starting to ease. It's good to be home.

Fighting the swarm of fairy bulls to the front door is no easy task, but he can't even find it in himself to be irritated. In his own way he'd gotten used to them, the way those in the city got used to crickets and cheerful birds. Besides, they delay a conversation he really doesn't want to be having.

The kids will be napping, likely far enough in the house that they won't hear this, which is a good thing. It's likely to get messy, things always tended to, with Jake.

But he's never been a coward, and he knows it's necessary. So he shifts the bag in his hand and enters the house, dumping it into a corner, before wandering in search of him.

It's easy, he's in the kitchen and Dirk leans on the door frame, watching

Honey, I'm home.

[It's one of the rare times Yosuke will venture as far as the city, when he doesn't have Nanako in tow. The towns people if he's honest, entirely creep him out. He's not sure he'd go as far as to say that they dislike the residents of the castle, but they are definitely not what he'd call friendly either.

Unfortunately, his plans of hot chocolate and food are entirely derailed as he only makes it about as far as the fountain before he wipes out on the ice]

[ Peter was outside enjoying the
wintery weather, finally heading back towards the castle, just in time to see a guy about his age slipping and falling backwards. Without thinking about it, Peter is lunging forward and reaching out to catch him. ]

[Those bro are some really, really nice reflexes. But he certainly wasn't expecting it, so he hangs suspended from the ground a minute or two with his eyes squeezed tightly shut and tensed for impact before he notices.

When he does, he tips his head back with a sheepish expression
]

...Nice catch.

[ He'll just be holding Yosuke there, waiting for the guy to try and get up on his own and--

Oh... Uh... wow, last time he saw this guy was around this time of year when he tried to pick a fight with him for kissing Kallen. For a split moment Peter debates dropping him, but decides against him. ]

Nice fall. Only six out of ten though, I'm docking points because you didn't make it all the way to the ground.

[He does not at all realize that there's something wrong here, so he's glad that you know, he's not being dropped]

And who's fault is that? I don't think your interference should be held against me.

[And he'll definitely be moving to get up on his own]

[ Yeah, that would kind of be a dick move on Peter's part. But he's glad the guy is managing to get up himself. ]

Maybe you should have changed the laws of gravity and fallen faster. Ever consider that?

[Thanks to your catch, no injuries were acquired and he's perfectly able to do it]

I've got many talents, that just isn't one.

Really? Come on, that's the most basic of skills. I didn't know there were people who couldn't do it.

Sorry to disappoint, man. It's just culture shock getting to me, or something like that.

[ They were paired up in transfiguration class in order to split up the houses. Ravenclaws and Gryffindors working together to promote cooperation between houses or some such nonsense. Jake wasn't really that concerned about who was paired with who. He was far too distracted trying to perform this charm and transform the hat on top of... well... he didn't remember what the guy said his name was! But on top of his partner's head!

So with a little flick of his wand and some mumbled words there was... a huge flash of blue light!

Oh, that's not what was supposed to happen at all.
]

[ It was pretty much all but completely and utterly appalling for him to see realize who he'd been paired with. Normally, they were always allowed to pick their own partners and predictably like he did every year, he'd picked his twin and lounged in the back with his impassive, too cool expression and generally stopped her from making her grades turn to shit with her occasional glitch in judgement.

But this house unity business apparently extended into forcing communication amongst the houses, and he's been stuck with none other than Jake English, the bane of his otherwise boring, but perfectly acceptable school existence. He's not impressed.

His arms are crossed over his chest, and with that flash of blue light, the tittering laughter around them, and the slight tingling to his scalp and decidedly not the hat on his head, he can tell something is horribly, horribly wrong. In a voice with forced calm, but with definitely warning all over it, he's glade for his shades and how they hide his ever mounting panic behind the anger and calm
]

What, English, did you do?

[ Jake stares in silent horror, his jaw going slack for a minute as he realizes his mistake. Really, this is a pretty simple one all things considered. He didn't do any permanent damage (for once), and nothing lit on fire (also for once)! The problem was the spell hadn't quite worked out the way he intended and... well...

Maybe it was better if his partner hear didn't know about the mistakes he'd made on the spell. It was something that would hopefully wear off given a little time, and it was a lovely shade of blue as it was!!
]

Nothing really. It looks like a botched spell, nothing came out of it!

[He stills, when he sees John. It's only been what, three fucking years, and the sight of him in glorified pajamas shouldn't be shocking. John had reached God Tier first, and he'd always known that. The part that was shocking, was that John had shot up like a beanstalk, Dave knew the second he stood up from his sprawl on borrowed troll-pile, he'd have to crane his chin back, just a little, to meet John's eyes from beneath his shades.

This is all kinds of totally uncool, and it's enough to make him want to drop kick John back to his little battleship floatation with Jade. If that didn't require getting up, anyway
]

Yo.

[Yeah, that's the only Strider greeting your getting. Suck it]

[As 'lame' as she's been told it is to spend a Saturday night indoors, that's exactly how she's choosing to spend it. She'd been out with a group of people she only tolerated half the time and Dave earlier this afternoon, and she'd gotten the distinct impression it hadn't been a fun experience for much of anyone. And if that was the tone setting for the day, the only place to spend it is on her couch.

Which she's doing with a textbook Dave left lying around, a mug of hot chocolate, and with absolutely every light in the apartment on. What is caring about an electricity bill? Though she perks up a little when she hears a key in the front door
